|The CyberPower CP850PFCLCD Adaptive Sinewave uninterruptible power supply (UPS) with pure sine wave safeguards computer systems that use conventional and Active Power Factor Correction (PFC) power supplies. Its automatic voltage regulation (AVR) topology delivers clean and consistent AC power. The patented GreenPower UPS advanced circuitry reduces UPS energy costs by up to 75% compared to competitive models.
CyberPower’s Adaptive Sinewave UPS with pure sinewave output is the first to address the critical compatibility issues of non-Sinewave UPS products working with computing systems using Active PFC power supplies (ENERGY STAR 5.0 compliant). CyberPower’s innovative Adaptive Sinewave UPS is an affordable solution that ensures equipment utilizing Active PFC power supplies do not unexpectedly shutdown or experience harmful stress when switching from AC power to UPS battery power.
The CP850PFCLCD unit has a capacity of 850VA/510Watts, (10) NEMA 5-15R receptacles and (1) maintenance-free, user-replaceable 12V/8.5Ah batteries. The intelligent multi-function LCD panel displays real-time UPS vitals for ease of control. Connectivity via (1) HID USB and (1) DB9 serial ports. Surge Protection for RJ11/RJ45 & coax. PowerPanel Personal Edition UPS Management software, a three-year warranty, and a $250,000 Connected Equipment Guarantee are included.
Adaptive Sinewave Technology
Adaptive Sinewave technology solves the incompatibility issues experienced when a non-Sinewave UPS is attached to equipment using Active PFC power supplies. Like Pure Sinewave, an Adaptive Sinewave UPS provides continuous power output, preventing unexpected shutdowns or damaging stress when switching from AC to UPS battery power.
Intelligent LCD Diagnostic Display
The innovative front white LCD panel displays UPS vitals: input voltage level, output voltage level, automatic voltage regulator, battery capacity, energy-saving bypass mode, runtime estimate, load level, output frequency, on battery, overload, fault condition, event logging, and silent mode.
Automatic Voltage Regulation
AVR technology stabilizes the AC voltage and maintains a safe voltage level without switching to battery-mode. This conserves battery life, and delivers cleaner AC power to connected equipment.
Reduce Energy Costs & Heat Loss
GreenPower UPS advanced bypass circuitry reduces UPS energy consumption by up to 75% compared to competitive models. This unique design also reduces the amount of heat generated by the UPS.
Advanced efficiency design (reduced fan operation), high-end system components, and GreenPower UPS technology help minimize sound emissions.
PowerPanel Personal Edition UPS Management Software
In event of a power outage, PowerPanel saves open files and "hibernates" your PC to increase the run-time of the UPS unit. PowerPanel is quickly and easily installed on any Windows-based PC and is designed to utilize minimal system resources. Diagnostic screens give immediate indicators of the status of your UPS and also include the following features: Silent operation mode, configurable system notifications, automatic self tests, adjustable high/low voltage warnings, event/data logging, and scheduled shutdowns.

Not a good start with CyberPower 9/16/2011

After being a long time user of APC products I needed a UPS that would work with my Dell XPS 9100. The 9100 uses a power supply that uses PFC (Power Factor Correction). PFC requires the use of a pure sinewave UPS. I purchased this UPS for that reason. Unit was dead out of the box, would not turn on.

Good bang for buck 7/17/2011

I originally was always an APC fan and throughout my years of working in IT I always saw phone companies and router vendors use this brand battery and always figured because they are cheap.
Anyway now when I think back on it I have never seen one fail yet and to see the features of this one and this awesome price I feel I just can’t go wrong.
This is same price if not cheaper than APC ones that don’t do pure sine so how can one go wrong?
Electronics these days are sensitive. The cleaner the power you can feed them the better, even if you can get the old type battery to work it’s not worth the life of the electronics you risk. Pure sine wave is the best you can feed them for power!
Great Backup 2/13/2011

The CyberPower PFC is a compact UPS that contains a great set of features. Several great energy saving utilities built in and the largest benefit is the fact that it draws power and provides power a bit differently than a normal UPS. It is uses a bypass mode that, when fully charged, will just pass the power through itself to all the devices. This saves a lot of power and helps to lower costs/energy consumption. It also contains an AVR which will provide a constant voltage to all the attached devices.
It contains 10 power outlets 5 of which are power outage safe, the other 5 aren't. Other ports include coax connectors for antenna/cable, serial ports, usb and ethernet/phone line. The included software will trigger your computer to turn off when the battery backup is below 20% threshold which is a great feature so you don't lose all your work or important files within your memory.
The display is greatly informative and shows a lot of details about the UPS. The most useful outputs are the battery charge, the load on the UPS and the estimated time until the battery shuts down. Another useful feature is the ability to set the sensitivity at which the UPS turns off/on, if you're scared about power failures turn it all the way up and even a tiny power blip will turn it on. The UPS is also able to self-test the battery and you can replace it yourself in a few easy steps.

Solid UPS 2/13/2011
Greg Platt from Sherman Oaks, CA
This unit seems to work great. I haven't been able to put a substantial load on it yet, but with two laptops sucking juice off of it, they barely even make a dent in the load meter. In complete power loss, it jumps smoothly onto about an hour of battery power. The front panel display is bright and easy to use. The unit itself is sleek and low profile so at least it's not an eyesore in the room. There are a large number of connections on the back for various devices, but I do wish the layout gave a little more access for large transformer plugs. Most of my PC equipment has small plugs so it's not a big issue.

Last thing you need to happen while recording/mixing is a power outage. Best way to insure that doesn't happen to you in your studio is this CP 850 by CyberPower.
I'm running my iMac 2.8ghz directly from this unit with multiple USB device's running off the mac. This particular model I have can supply up to 510 watts for an 8 hour period. It also comes with a warranty.
